Melitta Expands its Coffee Processing Plant with State-of-the-Art Roaster.A Strong Partnership with Cia. Lilla
Melitta's Coffee Processing plant, nestled in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, stands as a true testament to the confluence of technology and operational excellence. In a strategic move, the plant has made a substantial investment in its third roaster from Cia Lilla de Máquinas. This bold move has yielded remarkable results, setting the stage for a new era of achievement.
At the heart of this transformation is the state-of-the-art OPUS 4000 roaster – a paragon of innovation capable of roasting at least four thousand kilograms of green coffee per hour. This cutting-edge addition exemplifies the harmonious fusion of advanced technology and superior craftsmanship.
This acquirement is an addition to a series of investments made with equipment from Lilla since the beginning of the plant’s establishment. The whole system encompasses a spectrum of critical components, ranging from silos and automatic blending systems to mechanical conveyors and root blowers, meticulously arranged to cater to the dynamic demands of Melitta’s corporation. Of particular note is the OPUS 4000's inherent flexibility in roasting time, spanning a range of four to twenty minutes. This adaptive capability ensures both enhanced yield and a substantial reduction in fuel consumption, all while upholding the highest standards of cupping quality. Lower processing weight loss and lower fuel consumption, both contribute to a short investment payback and to the reduction of carbon footprint.

A defining feature of the OPUS 4000 is its mastery profile temperature control throughout the intricate coffee bean roasting process. Guided by Lilla’s fourth-generation design, this roaster meticulously manages the nuanced interplay of factors, through the precise configuration of profile parameters such as pressure, temperature, airflow, among others. This orchestration culminates in the realization of the perfect bean temperature evolution along the roasting development.
Melitta's narrative commences in 1908 in Germany, spearheaded by the pioneering spirit of Melitta Bentz, the inventor of the paper filter. Since its Brazilian debut in 1968, the brand has charted a remarkable trajectory to emerge as one of the nation's premier and most respected coffee roasters. The year 2017 set a defining chapter with the inauguration of the fourth processing plant in Varginha, Minas Gerais, underscored by a substantial investment of approximately R$ 8 million.
At every juncture, Melitta's approach has revolved around the pursuit of innovation, efficiency and product enhancement. A salient instance of this commitment is the brand's distinction as the trailblazer behind vacuum-sealed coffee in Germany (1962), a groundbreaking achievement echoed in Brazil in 1980.
The discerning decision of Melitta to entrust Cia. Lilla as a key equipment supplier, considering the rigorous standards and the elevated reputation Melitta upholds, underscores the profound significance of our product's exceptional quality and technology. This choice, combined with Lilla's far-reaching global presence, serves as a testament to our unwavering dedication to delivering excellence.
