Nestlé and Nescafé – Pioneering

The famous Nescafé goes far beyond instant coffee, being part of Brazil's history. In 1929, Nestlé was invited by the Brazilian government to find a solution to a coffee surplus generated after the Wall Street Crash.

Conceived by Max Morgenthaler, the product's principle was very simple: to create soluble coffee, allowing a cup of coffee to be made with just the addition of water, without losing the drink's quality and flavor.

In the 1950s, the renowned beverage finally reached the Brazilian market. Seventy years later, the brand has not only revolutionized the coffee industry but also established an innovation standard that remains in its DNA to this day. Not surprisingly, currently, one in seven cups of coffee consumed worldwide is Nescafé. With a diversified portfolio of over 40 products, Nescafé views the coffee universe as a world full of possibilities, rich in aromas and flavors that deserve to be explored by everyone.

Currently, Nescafé operates in the segments of roasted and ground coffee, soluble coffee, and capsules, and owns the most iconic and valuable brands in the world in the sector: Nescafé, Nescafé Gold, Nescafé Origens do Brasil, Nescafé Dolce Gusto, as well as innovative lines like Nescafé Dolce Gusto NEO and the Professional line, which also includes Nescafé Roastelier.

Nestlé has over 100 years of operations in Brazil and continues to renew its commitment to society, acting as a mobilizing force contributing to nutrition and well-being for billions of people, creating an inclusive and

opportunity-filled environment for thousands of Brazilians, and being the most sustainable food producer in the country.

The company employs over 30,000 people in Brazil and has 20 industrial units located in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Pernambuco, Goiás, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, and Espírito Santo, as well as nine distribution centers and more than 50 brokers (responsible for sales, promotions, merchandising, storage, and distribution).

Committed to good practices from the field to the consumer's table, the company works with thousands of supplier producers participating in quality programs in the cocoa, coffee, and milk supply chains, ensuring sustainable production and bringing modernity to the field.

Additionally, it maintains initiatives in its factories to minimize water and energy usage and reduce emissions, reforestation actions, and continuous innovations in increasingly sustainable packaging. Nestlé Brazil is present in 99% of Brazilian households, according to a survey conducted by Kantar Worldpanel.
